THE ROAD AHEAD
We’ve got a long journey ahead, but below are just a few of the ways we’re helping to create a better tomorrow at Belstaff.
SOURCING RESPONSIBLE COTTON
We are committed to sourcing our cotton in a more sustainable way.
Going forward, we are pushing to achieve this by using as much organic, recycled and other responsibly sourced cotton as possible – including Supima® cotton. Today, around 60% of the cotton that we use is organic, and our goal is to increase that percentage in the future.
DRIVING CHANGE IN LEATHER PRODUCTION
We source 100% of our leathers from certified manufacturers.
Belstaff is committed to supporting responsible leather manufacturing, which is why we purchase all of our leather from certified leather manufacturers.
The majority is certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG), with a small number certified by the Institute of Quality Certification for the Leather Sector (ICEC) and the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System. This allows for supply chain traceability and transparency, while improving social and environmental industry best practices for leather production.
MEETING THE RESPONSIBLE DOWN STANDARD
We have been committed to achieving Responsible Down Standard (RDS) certification for 100% of our woven outerwear suppliers that produce down-filled products, and in 2024, we achieved our target.
We continue to uphold this commitment by sourcing only RDS certified down and feather or certified recycled down and feather. All of our down and feather now comes from RDS certified sources or certified recycled materials. RDS certification helps ensure the welfare of ducks and geese by prohibiting practices that cause unnecessary harm. Certified recycled down and feather extends the life of existing materials and reduces reliance on new raw resources.
