SOURCING RESPONSIBLE COTTON
We are committed to sourcing 80% of our cotton in a more sustainable way by 2025.
By purchasing cotton products from Belstaff, you are supporting more responsibly grown cotton through Better Cotton. The cotton supply chain is complex so Better Cotton uses a system called Mass Balance, a widely used volume-tracking system. It allows Better Cotton to be substituted or mixed with conventional cotton as long as equivalent volumes are sourced as Better Cotton. Purchasing products that were sourced as Better Cotton helps create demand and improve conditions at farm level. Better Cotton is not physically traceable to end products, however, Better Cotton Farmers benefit from the demand for Better Cotton in equivalent volumes to those we ‘source.’DRIVING CHANGE IN LEATHER PRODUCTION
We source 100% of our leathers from certified manufacturersBelstaff is committed to supporting responsible leather manufacturing, which is why we purchase all of our leather from certified leather manufacturers. The majority is certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG), with a small number certified by the Institute of Quality Certification for the Leather Sector (ICEC) and the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System. This allows for supply chain traceability and transparency, while improving social and environmental industry best practices for leather production.
DRIVING CHANGE IN LEATHER PRODUCTION
MEETING THE RESPONSIBLE DOWN STANDARD
We have been committed to achieving Responsible Down Standard (RDS) certification for 100% of our woven down outerwear suppliers by 2024, and this year, we achieved our target. All of our feather and down is RDS certified, which protects the ducks and geese used and encourages practices that don’t cause unnecessary harm.
